WHAT IS YOUR STORY?

While working out at the gym the other day, I was empowered by the workout as I finished my last repetition, yet as the music played across the loudspeaker, although my body was empowered, I felt my soul and spirit being drained. Distraction followed as I continued working out, and although my body felt strengthened, walking out the door, my spirit was lacking.
What would it be like, I wondered to work out in a gym that teaches fitness classes and honors the one who created the entire body.
In a world where there is often constant striving and obsession over the perfect body or neglect and laziness over not caring for the body, where does one find the balance?
God created our bodies for ability, not vanity. He created our bodies to be his temple so we can do the things he calls us to do. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are the heaven the world sees, and we care for our bodies in light of our mission. God did not create the body for vanity to show it off, to be obsessed by it, or to worship it. When our thoughts are in line with God’s thoughts, the strivings cease, and we become free. Free to be led by the Holy Spirit to live the wholehearted life God has created for us, even through fitness.
Romans 12:1-2 says
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
How do we renew our minds? Meditating on God’s word is the best way to renew our minds, but we also know that exercise is a method for mind renewal as well.
When we move, our minds renew! We have the ability to think better thoughts and take in all the good that God has to offer.
I am more than excited to teach Revelation Wellness classes and impart the love of God through fitness in mind, body, and spirit. They are all connected…let’s not separate them in the gym, but rather grow them all together! Although fitness is a part of this ministry, freedom is the end result as our mind, body, spirit connection is renewed in the power of Jesus Christ. See the "Three Circles Post" for more...
